The Victorian Junior Track Championships were held at DISC over the weekend of January 21-22.
There were many great performances over the two days, with many observers picking the Boys Under 17 Sprint final
as the highlight event on the two day program. Jay Castles (Shepparton CC) and John Cochrane (Blackburn CC) hit the
line together, with many observers unable to find a margin - but the judges did, and Castles (#61) narrowly

50th Australia Day Madison Carnival -
A big field enjoyed perfect the weather conditions yesterday as Blackburn celebrated its 50th Anniversary of the Australia Day Madison Carnival. The Madison was won by Tom Leaper & Brent Nelson (This is Tom's 5th ADM win in a row!) in a race that had so many exciting highlights. The club would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time to help out on the day & also the riders that came from all parts of Victoria to not only ride in the Madison, but to also ride in the support races. Australia Day Madison Training -
Leading up to the Australia Day Madison there will be Madison specific training nights at the Blackburn Velodrome.
These 90 minutes sessions will commence on the 2nd January at 6.00pm, until the 23rd January. Sessions are free and will
be run by Brad Robins. You do need to have a racing licence to participate and it is expected that you have a reasonable level
of competency on the track. Any juniors intending to race the in the Australia Day Madison, are required to attend at least two
session to prove their competency. |

Sydney International Sprint GP -
Caitlin Ward JW19 & Emerson Harwood JM19 experienced success at the Sydney International Sprint Grand Prix last weekend winning their respective divisions of the omnium styled sprint competition. In an outstanding effort Caitlin was unchallenged winning all five of her events (her Flying 200 time was 12.04 & 500m time was 37.033). Emerson won the Sprint (qualifying first in 10.799), Keirin & Sprint Derby in a 4 up final with seconds in the 1 lap dash and 750m TT. Jenny Ward attended as Manager/Chaperone. Alex Morgan rode off for bronze in the 3000m Individual Pursuit after qualifying 4th. He gave it his all,
finishing 4th in the World. He is extremely happy to be coming home with a world record, a world champions jersey,
a gold medal & 4th in IP as a first year U/19. Great effort on his first world championships.

100 riders enjoyed the perfect conditions at Casey Fields yesterday. It was a big day with Blackburn running a
separate women's criterium & junior/novice at the start, followed by graded criteriums. Results can

Aggregate For BDV/KCC Track Endurance Series -
Round 4 of the Bikes De Ver / Kelly Cycle Coaching Track Endurance Aggregate Series was conducted
on Friday August 5, the eve before the State Junior Road Titles. Whilst the fields haven't been large
every round see another accomplished rider front up to race and this time they pushed the Series leader the whole way.
The first scratch race was taken out by Cameron Parlevliet, but he didn't have the legs to break free of the group in the points race and was beaten by Sean Hurley. The series leaders are Cameron Parlevliet (157), Jonathan Dent (99), Daniel Nelson (64).
The Junior racing demonstrated the skills the Blackburn juniors are developing on the track with smart tactical yet attacking racing being the order of the night. Commendation needs to go to these riders for the exciting spectacle they put on for the senior riders.

Due to the huge effort of many members, family and friends the RACV Eildon Junior Tour 2011 was a great success.
Under blue skies and against a stunning backdrop of a snow-capped mountain and full waterways, Saturdays new courses
challenged riders and organisers alike! The weekends racing was accident-free and all events started on time and
went to schedule. A number of riders and club members suffered illness before and/or during the carnival - we wish
all a speedy recovery. Feedback has been positive from CV, police and many participants. Thank you to ALL who
contributed to the success of the Tour.

Bikes De Ver/Kelly Cycle Coaching Endurance Agregate Series Round 3 -
Round 3 of the Bikes De Ver/Kelly Cycle Coaching Endurance Aggregate Series saw an increase in A-Grade riders
and the pace increased as a result. In A-Grade another strong ride from Cameron Parlevliet had him take 3 laps
in the 80 lap main race and Daniel Nelson riding to a good second position. In B-Grade Jonothan Dent won on the
day closely followed by Cameron Senese and Nick Cockrel.
Junior racing had QLD state representative Kiara Dundas teaching the locals a few lessons with her fluid technique
taking all races ahead of Blackburn JETS riders James Sgardelis and Kallum Parlevliet. In the Junior B-Grade Harrison
McClimont is demonstrating his continual progression with his dominate display in the points races.
