BBN Track Racing This Saturday -
This Saturday is our last track meet for the 2011 season, the weather forecast is looking good so we are hoping for a good turnout. This week's racing features a Scratch Race, Christmas Handicap, Motor Pace & Teams Pursuit. Registrations from 1pm & racing starts at 2pm. There will also be a BBQ towards the end of the day & some nice hampers for the winners of the Christmas Handicap. Hope to see you Saturday.

Last Saturdays Track Racing At BBN -
A special thanks to Russell & Bessie Poole for donating the prizes for the Bessie Poole Handicap last Saturday.
BBN appreciates that Bessie (who now lives in Western Australia) Was able to make it to BBN & present the winners
with their prizes in person. The weather looked threatening all day, but we managed to get a full days racing in
which was great.

Sydney International Sprint GP -
Caitlin Ward JW19 & Emerson Harwood JM19 experienced success at the Sydney International Sprint Grand Prix last weekend winning their respective divisions of the omnium styled sprint competition. In an outstanding effort Caitlin was unchallenged winning all five of her events (her Flying 200 time was 12.04 & 500m time was 37.033). Emerson won the Sprint (qualifying first in 10.799), Keirin & Sprint Derby in a 4 up final with seconds in the 1 lap dash and 750m TT. Jenny Ward attended as Manager/Chaperone. Alex Morgan rode off for bronze in the 3000m Individual Pursuit after qualifying 4th. He gave it his all,
finishing 4th in the World. He is extremely happy to be coming home with a world record, a world champions jersey,
a gold medal & 4th in IP as a first year U/19. Great effort on his first world championships.

100 riders enjoyed the perfect conditions at Casey Fields yesterday. It was a big day with Blackburn running a
separate women's criterium & junior/novice at the start, followed by graded criteriums. Results can

Aggregate For BDV/KCC Track Endurance Series -
Round 4 of the Bikes De Ver / Kelly Cycle Coaching Track Endurance Aggregate Series was conducted
on Friday August 5, the eve before the State Junior Road Titles. Whilst the fields haven't been large
every round see another accomplished rider front up to race and this time they pushed the Series leader the whole way.
The first scratch race was taken out by Cameron Parlevliet, but he didn't have the legs to break free of the group in the points race and was beaten by Sean Hurley. The series leaders are Cameron Parlevliet (157), Jonathan Dent (99), Daniel Nelson (64).
The Junior racing demonstrated the skills the Blackburn juniors are developing on the track with smart tactical yet attacking racing being the order of the night. Commendation needs to go to these riders for the exciting spectacle they put on for the senior riders.

Due to the huge effort of many members, family and friends the RACV Eildon Junior Tour 2011 was a great success.
Under blue skies and against a stunning backdrop of a snow-capped mountain and full waterways, Saturdays new courses
challenged riders and organisers alike! The weekends racing was accident-free and all events started on time and
went to schedule. A number of riders and club members suffered illness before and/or during the carnival - we wish
all a speedy recovery. Feedback has been positive from CV, police and many participants. Thank you to ALL who
contributed to the success of the Tour.

Bikes De Ver/Kelly Cycle Coaching Endurance Agregate Series Round 3 -
Round 3 of the Bikes De Ver/Kelly Cycle Coaching Endurance Aggregate Series saw an increase in A-Grade riders
and the pace increased as a result. In A-Grade another strong ride from Cameron Parlevliet had him take 3 laps
in the 80 lap main race and Daniel Nelson riding to a good second position. In B-Grade Jonothan Dent won on the
day closely followed by Cameron Senese and Nick Cockrel.
Junior racing had QLD state representative Kiara Dundas teaching the locals a few lessons with her fluid technique
taking all races ahead of Blackburn JETS riders James Sgardelis and Kallum Parlevliet. In the Junior B-Grade Harrison
McClimont is demonstrating his continual progression with his dominate display in the points races.

| 20/06/2011 | Full Closure of Mountain Highway Near Sassafras From 4-8 July -
Urgent road repair work on Mountain Highway near Helen Road, Sassafras is due to begin Monday 4 July 2011.
To undertake this work safely and effectively a full closure of Mountain Highway will be required between Inverness Avenue and Mt Dandenong Tourist Road, Sassafras for up to five days.
The closure period will be from 7am Monday 4 July 2011 until 7pm Friday 8 July 2011. This is to reduce the impact on busy weekend traffic.
The repair work is weather dependent, and bad weather could postpone the work to the following week.
Cyclists and pedestrians will have no access during the closure period. We invite you to share this information with your family, friends and other networks to help raise awareness of the work.
VicRoads would like to thank all road users for their patience and understanding during this work.

Round 2 Bikes De Ver / Kelly Cycle Coaching Endurance Series -
Round 2 Bikes De Ver / Kelly Cycle Coaching Endurance Series had another small field with A & B grades combined for the
night. Cameron Parlevliet (Blackburn) again proved the strongest rider on the night however a notible ride from Mel
Humphries-Grey (Northcote) delivered him a comfortable win in B Grade. Standing after round 2 can be found here
results. With Juniors races also combined the younger Parlevliet, Kallum
demonstrated his strength with commanding wins, Harrison McClimont(J13)rode well to stay in contact with the older
riders in the combined grades.

Blackburn's Chloe Baggs will do a sponsored cycle on Sunday the 29th May. Chloe is attempting to cycle 50 Laps at Casey Fields which
is just over 110km's.

Alex Morgan once again continued his good form....he travelled to Tasmania to race in the U19 National Road selection races which
is part of the Mersey Valley Tour. Alex won the Time Trial by over a minute, won the 3rd stage Road Race in a solo breakaway with
about 10km's to go, won the King of the Mountain & was the overall winner of the Mersey Valley Tour!
He is now off the Adelaide tomorrow to train for the track worlds for 2 weeks....Outstanding effort Alex & unbelievable to think
its his first year in U19!

Alex Morgan claimed his first individual Australian Title this weekend at the Australian National Mountain
Climbing Championships held at Mt. Buffalo. He won the GC by 33 seconds after winning the Individual Time Trial
and claiming 2nd in the road race in a sprint finish with Calvin Watson (CCCC). Well done Alex!!

Yesterdays Road Race At Warburton -
Yesterday 93 riders turned up yesterday in perfect conditions to race the challenging Wesburn to
Piedmont return loop. There were many stories, personal bests & smiles all round from those who competed.
For a race this size there is alot of work involved not just on race day, but months before there is alot
of planning & preparation involved. The Blackburn Cycling Club would like to thank everyone involved in helping
out, it was a very successful day & a great team effort by everyone. Rumour has it that next year this race
will be bigger & better & may even include a TT on the Sunday next year! The results have now been posted, see

Alex Morgan At The Oceanias -
Alex Morgan competed at the Oceania Road Time Trial Championships in Shepparton last Thursday, just 5 weeks after coming off second best with the fence at Blackburn Velodrome.
He rode with a brace on his wrist after having a plate inserted, his 2 front teeth have been temporarily repaired. The forced rest must have done him some good as he won the
Bronze Medal in the U/19 28.4km Individual Time Trial, 2 Queensland riders were 1st and 2nd.

Mitchell Barry Makes Victorian Junior Track Team -
There was an error on the CSV website that has recently been corrected. Mitchell Barry (M17) along
with Chloe Baggs (W15), Angus Flood (M15), Kurt Santagada (M15), Emily Apolito (W17) & Alistair Donohoe
(M17) all have been selected in the Victorian Junior Track Team. They will all contest at the Australian
Junior Championships in March in Sydney. Congratulations from all of your friend at BBN for making the team!

Blackburn had a strong showing at the Junior State Track Championships at DISC this weekend.
The hot weather provided fast conditions and without exception competitors raised to the challenge,

Results For Todays Australia Day Madison Carnival -
Results are now up for todays Australia Day Madison Carnival....With a fantastic days
racing Tom Leaper & Adrian Hansen won for the 3rd time in 3 years, but they had to work hard
for the win as Jay Callaghan & Daniel Nelms fought brilliantly all day & challenged them all
the way. For all the results including the support races see results.

2011 VICTORIAN CLUB TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIPS - EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST -
This years Victorian Club Teams Track Championships is on Saturday the 5th February (J19 to Masters) &
Sunday the 6th February (J11 to J17) at DISC.
With many members still enjoying the festive season it does not give us a lot of time to organize training
times & teams.
All members with a current Blackburn racing licence is eligible for selection.
Members wishing to participate in these Championships need to register their interest by emailing there name, phone number, age category on your
2011 licence to (raceentry@bbn.org.au) Entries close on the 17th January 2011.
More information will be sent for those interested soon.
