BLACKBURN CYCLING CLUB TRAINING SESSIONS

MONDAY

  6.00 - 6.45: Novice session.
6.45 - 9.30: Endurance & Sprint training.

Session is suitable for all riders from junior to masters, although we suggest that riders new to track attend a session at Blackburn velodrome first.

Hire of CV track bikes is available $10ea or Club track bikes are free to members.  

Novice riders attending 6pm session must book by emailing info@bbn.org.au and arrive early to organise and set up a bike.

COSTS FOR RIDERS: Novices session $10ea, including Junior under 13. 6:45pm session is $20ea for everyone.   Training Card should be purchased for all club training sessions. Whilst training cards are preferred, cash is also acceptable.
 

WEDNESDAY    

6.00-7:30am

Wednesday Road Ride - Warrandyte Loop

  Departs South Parade rotunda, near Blackburn Station.
A rolling ride of ~35km for riders wanting an early mid-week ride. Average speed is around 25km/h, and the ride includes some solid climbs. Suitable for riders at a D grade level and above.
Good lights are essential as some roads are very poorly lit. The ride finishes with coffee in Blackburn. This is a casual ride and new riders to the club are encouraged to attend.
However, for insurance reasons, all participants should have an appropriate Cycling Australia licence. This is available via the club website (see the Membership details for licence information).

Wednesday Night Track Training

CA members are welcome to join BBN at club track training (East Burwood Reserve) every Wednesday. Under 11 & u13 to commence training from 5.30pm and u15 & above to start from 6.30pm until dark as per instruction of coach. Sessions will start promptly so be there early. Bring track pants, jacket and drink bottle.


Open to all club members ($5 per rider under 13, $10 under 15 and above)


 
THURSDAY

RACV Novice/Skills Development Program

This skills training is provided primarily for riders new to track cycling. It is run during the Summer daylight saving months from 6pm for a 6:30PM start till dusk at the East Burwood Velodrome.

Under instruction of qualified coach for riders new to track racing. 


During October 2016, a Thursday night indoor Ergo session will run for 1 hour whilst the track training is running outside.  Open to all members but especially directed at Parents of the Novice riders that will be attending the track session.


For insurance reasons, it is required that all track participants have an appropriate Cycling Australia licence. This is available via the club website (see the Membership details for licence information).

We ask all riders and parents to arrive and register each Thursday by 6:00pm. In addition to the licence cost there is a $5 rider fee to be collected by club officials. The evenings can be cold so please be prepared by bringing warm clothing. If riders do not have a track bike a club bike is available. 

Each rider needs to bring helmet, cycling shoes (if they have them - if not they will need appropriate footwear, no thongs or sandals) to match the pedals. Please bring a drink and a snack! Check the calendar for program schedule. Under instruction of qualified coach for riders new to track racing. Track loan bikes are available to club members.

This skills training program run in conjunction with the Thursday evening program is provided primarily for riders new to track cycling. Each Saturday is run during the Summer months from 11.00am – 12.30pm (approx.) prior to club track racing each at the East Burwood Velodrome. Each rider will also be given an opportunity to ride in an event under the Race Schedule from 1.30pm.
